Great Website Usability Resource

Written by Jeff Coon | Sep 8, 2009 3:38:00 AM

s a follow up to my last article about website usability, which admittedly got a little long-winded, here are two great resources on usability testing. There are many great resources out there, but what I like, and appreciate, with these are the author’s very casual presentation style (in the video) and the easy-to-read nature of his book- which matches his very simple philosophy about website usability.

The first resource is a book called:

Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability bySteve Krug

Well worth the read – especially since it won’t take you very long (roughly 190 pages) and you’ll get a lot out of it. It’s even a great refresher for print designers and copy writers. Sometimes we can get caught up in designing a piece, thinking that our audience is going to spend hours reading every word and drooling over the beautiful graphics. I’m not advocating we slop designs together, rather, keep the message simple and clear. The focus should be on the clarity of the message.

The second resource is a presentation that essentially sums up the book mentioned above. So, for those who don’t like to read or only want to spend an hour learning a few things about website usability, here you go:
