Social Media Tip: Use Push Notifications for Twitter Mentions

Author: Steve James

As we've been using Twitter more and more to communicate with clients and friends, most of the time I find myself doing this on my iPhone. The problem I've been running into is that the twitter apps like hootsuite and tweetdeck don't alert me if I'm not using my phone when someone has replied to my latest tweet like a traditional SMS text message would. This can be difficult to try and carry on a quick conversation when my iphone goes to sleep and then I need to turn it back on to see if someone has responded.

That's where the app Boxcar fits in nicely. I just recently downloaded (free) it and you get one free service from Boxcar in  iTunes with other paid services available. It's truly been great to be notified like a text message where my phone alerts me anytime someone sends out a mention (@streamcreative), retweet or direct message to us. If you are into social media marketing and want to be alerted when tweets come your way then this is definitely something worth getting for your iphone.

Here's another article from TechCrunch on the app.
