A Thank You To People Who Support Your Business Goes A Long Way

Author: Steve James

In the NFL and the business world, relationships will come to an end. In the case of Al Harris, his relationship ended when the Green Bay Packers released him a few weeks ago due to a knee injury. It's what Al Harris did next that is a lesson any business should take notice of. Harris took out a full page ad in the Sports section of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and said "Thank You" to all of his supporters and fans with a heart felt note in the ad.

In the business world, working with clients sometimes dissolves with them moving to a new vendor and relationships you've built could quickly dissolve. So what happens next, in a lot of cases, people just move on. What should you do? Well, take out a full page ad and say thanks to the people that supported your business over the years. If it's not a full page ad, then do something...a thank you card, send donuts, a phone call, whatever it takes for you to say "Thank You" for all the support those individuals brought to your business over the years.

On JSonline, the article with Al Harris's thank you note has 83 positive comments wishing him the best of luck. My Facebook wall also has some friends sharing this article with the same type of sentiment. Not that your thank you should be as public as his, but just remember that word gets around and it's a small world. You never know when you might re-connect with a long lost client.
